1960

(Mon 26-Dec-1960) 1960 NFL Championship - Green Bay Packers @ Philadelphia Eagles - was the last playoff game for Norm Van Brocklin as a player, and the first for Vince Lombardi as a head coach. The experience carried the day, as the Eagles administered the only loss Lombardi would ever have in a championship game. Philadelphia turned the ball over twice deep in their own territory in the opening minutes. The defense held, however, and the Packers only got a field goal from Paul Hornung. After Hornung scored again in the second quarter, the Eagles turned to Van Brocklin. Taking over at his 43, he found Tommy McDonald for 22 yards. Then Van Brocklin went to McDonald again, for 35 yards and a touchdown. Bobby Walston's field goal put the Eagles up 10-6 at the half. Green Bay took the lead back in the fourth quarter when Bart Starr hit Max McGee with a touchdown pass, but Philadelphia, boosted by Ted Dean's 58-yard kickoff return, came right back. Their 39-yard drive ended when Dean scored with 5:21 left. Green Bay rallied by driving to the Philadelphia 22 with eight seconds left. Starr hit Jim Taylor with a pass, but Taylor could only reach the 8 before Chuck Bednarik brought him down as the clock ran out. - Original full radio broadcast from the game on 3 CDs with Jack Whitaker on the call

(11-23-89) WK 12 - Philadelphia Eagles @ Dallas Cowboys - Thanksgiving - The Bounty Bowl I - The Eagles put on a 27-0 whitewashing of Dallas that was not merely the worst defeat ever suffered by Dallas on Thanksgiving Day, but the only shutout it's ever suffered on the holiday. During the lopsided game, the rivals got into several skirmishes; most notably when Dallas placekicker Luis Zendajas left the game with a concussion following a hard tackle by linebacker Jessie Small after a kickoff.  Following the game, Cowboys head coach Jimmy Johnson alleged that Ryan had taken out a "bounty" on two of his players, then-current Dallas (and former Philadelphia) kicker Luis Zendejas and quarterback Troy Aikman. Johnson said “ I have absolutely no respect for the way they played the game, I would have said something to Buddy, but he wouldn't stand on the field long enough. He put his big, fat rear end into the dressing room. ”Zendejas claimed that when he was with the Eagles, a player had once received $200 - $100 each for hits on a punter and kicker. This is what led his coach Jimmy Johnson to make the accusation that a bounty had existed in this game as well.  Buddy Ryan responded to Johnson's accusations with his typical charismatic bravado. "I resent that," Ryan retorted a day later. "I've been on a diet, lost a couple of pounds. I thought I was looking good."  This game also marked the first time a most valuable player would be picked for a Thanksgiving game, as John Madden handed out the first "Turkey Leg Award," which resulted in an annual tradition among CBS and Fox for giving out an MVP award for their Thanksgiving coverage. Reggie White earned the distinction.

(12-10-89) WK 14 - Dallas Cowboys @ Philadelphia Eagles - The Bounty Bowl II - After rumors spread that Eagles coach Buddy Ryan had put a bounty out on Dallas kicker Luis Zendejas during the teams' first meeting two weeks prior, the notoriously raucous Eagles fans were more than rowdy when the rematch was held in Philadelphia.  CBS Sports touted the game as "Bounty Bowl II," complete with wanted posters and the offending players, with the bounty posted, as part of the network's pre-game opening, and it lived up to its expectations as a media event. With NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue in attendance, the Veterans Stadium crew didn't bother removing the snow that had piled up for several days. The volatile mix of beer, plentiful snow, the "bounty" and the intense hatred for the Cowboys led to fans throwing everything within reach. Fans threw snowballs, ice balls, batteries, and more onto the field, pelting players, officials, cheerleaders, coaches, cameramen, broadcasters, policemen, and each other. Notable targets included back judge Al Jury, who was knocked to the ground by a barrage of snowballs; Cowboys punter Mike Saxon, who was targeted in the end zone; and Cowboys coach Jimmy Johnson, who was bombarded mercilessly with snowballs, ice, and beer as he was hastily escorted off the field by Philadelphia Police. Johnson later called the fans "thugs".  Verne Lundquist and Terry Bradshaw worked the game for CBS, and they spent the afternoon denouncing Eagles fans and dodging snowballs aimed at the broadcast booth (broadcast booths are traditionally open during broadcasts). Even the Eagles' players were not immune to the constant salvo of projectiles. As Eagles defensive lineman Jerome Brown stood on the players' sideline seats pleading for the fans to halt their reckless pandemonium, he merely became another raised target amidst the fans' crossfire. Future Pennsylvania governor and fanatical Eagles fan Edward Rendell got caught up in the fallout from that game when he admitted to a reporter that he was involved in the bedlam. The then-former Philadelphia district attorney and future mayor and governor had bet another fan $20 that the fan couldn't reach the field with a snowball; Rendell lost. As a result of the chaotic melee, the team added security and banned beer sales for their last remaining home game of the regular season.

(12-16-90) Wk 15 - Green Bay Packers @ Philadelphia Eagles - The Philadelphia Eagles clinched a playoff berth for the third straight season, beating Green Bay 31-0 as Randall Cunningham ran for one touchdown and threw for another, and Keith Byars caught and threw touchdown passes. Cunningham threw for 241 yards and ran for 56 more. Rookie Fred Barnett had five catches for 108 yards, all in the first half, as the Eagles ended a two-game losing skein. Because their conference record will be better in any scenario than any of the other teams with a potential of eight losses, they become the fifth NFC team to lock up a place in the playoffs. That leaves just one NFC spot to be decided among Dallas (7-7) and a group of teams with including the Packers, who fell to 6-8. This game was never close as the Eagles led 17-0 at the half, played it conservatively and let their defense take over.

1991

(09-01-91) WK 1 - Philadelphia Eagles @ Green Bay Packers - The Philadelphia Eagles' new first-string quarterback strolled into the interview room late Sunday afternoon at Lambeau Field, laid down his overnight bag and jacket, chomped hard on his gum, then smiled slyly. Reporters had gathered around the podium, microphones were poised, and television-camera lights were blazing. For the first time since he joined the Eagles 14 months ago, after the San Diego Chargers had dumped him, Jim McMahon again was a quarterback in demand. For the first time in nearly two years, McMahon was back in the spotlight - his slicked-back hair in a ponytail, his sunglasses reflecting the harsh glare of the television lights. He had not been signed by the Eagles to be their primary quarterback, but the unthinkable really had happened. On the first play of the second quarter, Green Bay LB Bryce Paup tackled Randall Cunningham's left knee. McMahon, the oft-injured, 32-year-old quarterback who has played in 10 games or more in only three of his nine NFL seasons, had been an insurance policy in case Cunningham got hurt. And it had come time for the Eagles to cash in. As trainers tended to Cunningham at the 30-yard line, McMahon pulled on a helmet and furiously threw a few warm-up passes, hoping for the best, hoping that he would not need to replace Cunningham for long. But when Cunningham had to be helped off the field and to a bench, McMahon's focus shifted to his responsibilities. As he ran into the huddle, there was just one thought on his mind. Six points. Three plays later, the Eagles had a field goal - their first points of the season. And McMahon finished the game completing 17-of-25 passes for 257 yards, with two interceptions and two sacks. McMahon also threw two memorable touchdown passes. The first was a 32-yarder to Keith Ryars that was deflected by the Packers' Chuck Cecil and hauled in with one hand by a fallen Byars in the end zone. The second was a 75-yard blue-darter to Fred Barnett that sealed the Eagles' 20-3 victory.

(09-12-93) Wk 2 - Philadelphia Eagles @ Green Bay - Sure, the Philadelphia Eagles can win without Reggie White And, as they showed Sunday, they can win when he's on the other side of the ball, too. Roger Ruzek kicked a 30 yard field goal with 5 seconds to go as the Eagles, Reggie's old team, rallied with 13 fourth quarter points to beat Reggie's new team, the Green Bay Packers, 20-17. Randall Cunningham, twice stripped of the ball by White in the first half, eluded his former teammate on a rollout and heaved a 40-yard touchdown pass to Victor Bailey to tie the score 17-17 with 4:14 left. The Eagles got the ball back on the Green Bay 45 with 3:15 remaining after the Packers managed only 3 yards on three plays. Philadelphia then used most of the clock with seven running plays, including an 11-yard gain by Herschel Walker before Ruzek hit the game-winner to silence a crowd of 59,061, the second largest ever at Lambeau Field. Meanwhile, LB Brian Noble saw his nine-year career end with a knee injury. - Includes commercials, halftime, CBS NFL today post game (3 Discs) (Quality 9.5)

1996

(09-09-96) Wk 2 - Philadelphia Eagles @ Green Bay Packers - MNF - In what was suppose to be a match up of the NFC's 2 better teams the Packers dominate and blow out the Eagles on MNF. - Green Bay Packers rapper-receiver Robert Brooks followed his own advice one week after giving President Clinton his debut CD titled "Jump Into The Stands". Brooks caught five passes for 130 yards and two touchdowns as the Packers routed the dazed and outmatched Philadelphia Eagles 39-13 in the first Monday Night Football game at Lambeau Field in 10 years. Brooks vaulted himself into the end zone seats packed with delirious denizens decked in green and gold after TD receptions of 25 and 20 yards from Brett Favre, who overcame a rough start to throw three touchdowns. Dorsey Levens even got into the act, doing his version of the Lambeau Leap after a 1-yard touchdown run in the second quarter. A Lambeau Field record crowd of 60,666 watched their Packers go 2-0 for the first time since the strike-shortened 1982 season, when they won their first three. Brooks had four catches for 116 yards in the first half as the Packers built an astonishing 30- 7 lead at halftime against an Eagles team that thinks it can unseat Dallas as ruler of the NFC East. Edgar Bennett gained 93 yards on 17 carries and also scored on a 25-yard reception when he grabbed Favre's pass in the flat and rumbled his way into the end zone for a 37-7 lead with six minutes left in the third period. The blowout capped an exhilarating week in Green Bay, which began with President Clinton visiting the Packers at Lambeau Field on Labor Day. In two weeks, Favre, who was 17-of-31 for 261 yards, has seven touchdowns and no interceptions as the Packers have outscored their opponents 73-16. But it was the Packers' defense that really spoiled the return of Philadelphia coach Ray Rhodes, who served as defensive coordinator in Green Bay from 1992-93. The Packers, who had just 16 takeaways last season, already have 10, including four in the first half Monday night that Green Bay converted into 13 points. - (Quality 9)

(09-07-97) Wk 2 - Green Bay Packers @ Philadelphia Eagles - It was bound to happen, sooner or later. As the Packers flew into Philadelphia over the weekend, they had won nine straight regular and postseason games over the last two seasons -- 14 in a row if preseason games are included. The inexorable law of averages caught up with them in Veterans Stadium, when the proverbial "given day" arrived. The Packers rolled up 370 net yards of offense to the Eagles' 258, and three times were within Philadelphia's 10-yard line during the course of the afternoon but came away with three field goals, thus failing to score a touchdown for the first time since October 18, 1992, when they settled for two Chris Jacke field goals in a 17-6 loss to the Browns at Cleveland...76 games ago. Rookie Ryan Longwell kicked field goals of 22, 18 and 27 yards to give the Packers a 9-3 lead going into the fourth quarter. And, after the Eagles had gone up 10-9 in the final period on a 2-yard scoring pass to Fred Solomon and Chris Boniol's conversion, the surprising rookie -- he had made all his six previous field goal attempts -- had an opportunity to pull out a victory but his 28-yard field goal attempt was wide right with 15 seconds remaining. - (Quality 9.5)

WR Bill Schroeder received his first career NFL start and responded with his best game as a pro - 5 catches for 128 yards. FB William Henderson enjoyed his first 2 touchdown game, catching a 1-yard TD pass and running one in from 2 yards out. RB Darick Holmes plowed and dashed for 163 yards. Holmes broke the 100-yard barrier for the second time in a Packer uniform and the fourth of his career in the third quarter. Defensively, the Packers didn't allow a first down until 2:58 remained in the first half. And that was without starting CB Craig Newsome, CB Rod Smith or DE Vonnie Holliday. (09-17-00) Wk 3 - Philadelphia Eagles @ Green Bay Packers - Longwell kicks game winner - Ryan Longwell's 38-yard field goal in the game's final seconds gave the Packers their first victory of the season and Mike Sherman his first win as a head coach. Longwell's first-ever winning field goal, from 38 yards with 3 seconds left, enabled the Packers to prevail in their lowest-scoring game since a 6-3 loss at Chicago in the 1979 opener. The Green Bay defense held quarterback Donovan McNabb and the Eagles' offense at bay, limiting Philadelphia scoring to a second-quarter, 43-yard field goal by David Akers. McNabb was sacked five times by a variety of Green Bay defensemen and was unable to find a rhythm with his receivers, compiling just 118 yards on 15-of-31 passing with 1 interception. RB Duce Staley was Philadelphia's lone offensive threat, recording 122 of the team's 171 total offensive yards. At times, Philadelphia was its own worst enemy, committing 12 penalties for 115 yards and often bailing the Packers out of bad situations. (Quality 9)

Pinkston caught his first touchdown pass of the season when he beat cornerback Bhawoh Jue off the line and got free in the left side of the end zone. The Eagles stayed one game behind Dallas in the NFC East and the Packers fell two games behind Minnesota in the NFC North. Philadelphia started the winning drive at its 35 with 2:42 remaining and McNabb completed passes of 11 yards to Duce Staley and 20 yards to Chad Lewis. The Packers drove to midfield with eight seconds left when Brett Favre, playing with a broken right thumb, fumbled for the third time, sealing Green Bay's third home loss of the season. Ahman Green rushed for a team-record 192 yards and scored on a 45-yard run and a 24-yard screen pass, but he fumbled two more times, giving him an NFL-leading seven. (12-05-04) Wk 13 - Green Bay Packers @ Philadelphia Eagles - Donovan McNabb usually puts up these numbers playing video games. McNabb threw a career-high five touchdown passes in the first half and finished with a team-record 464 yards passing, leading the Philadelphia Eagles to a 45-17 victory over the Green Bay Packers on Sunday. Brian Westbrook had 11 catches for 156 yards and three TDs and Terrell Owens caught eight passes for 161 yards and one score. McNabb set a team record by completing his first 14 passes and finished 32-of-43. Meanwhile, Brett Favre threw two interceptions that led to Philadelphia's first two scores. His streak of games with a TD pass was snapped at 37, second in NFL history to Johnny Unitas' 47 straight. The four-time NFC East champion Eagles matched the best start in team history. They have won nine games by a double-digit margin and hold a two-game lead over Atlanta for first place in the conference. Since losing to Pittsburgh 27-3 last month, the Eagles have won four in a row by at least 20 points, outscoring their opponents 151-50. The Packers snapped a six-game winning streak, but remained tied with Minnesota for first place in the NFC North. A rematch of a thrilling playoff game 11 months ago, this one never lived up to its hype. The Eagles scored four TDs in the second quarter, led 35-3 at halftime and rested most of their starters with 8:18 left.

(10-30-05) Wk 8 - Philadelphia Eagles @ Denver Broncos

(11-27-05) Wk 12 - Green Bay Packers @ Philadelphia Eagles - Without Donovan McNabb and Terrell Owens, the Philadelphia Eagles’ best scoring threat is a kicker. David Akers made four field goals and quarterback Mike McMahon played an efficient, error-free game, leading Philadelphia to a 19-14 victory over the Green Bay Packers on Sunday. The reigning conference champion Eagles snapped a four-game losing streak with their first win since Oct. 23 against San Diego. Samkon Gado ran for 111 yards and one touchdown for the Packers. Green Bay assured its first losing season since Brett Favre took over as starter in 1992, a run of 13 years that was the best in the league. McMahon completed 12 of 28 passes for 91 yards and ran for 29 yards. He led a 12-play, 60-yard drive that lasted 6:10 and ended with Akers’ 37-yard field goal that put the Eagles ahead 16-14 with 4:31 left. After Andrae Thurman fumbled the ensuing kickoff, Akers made a 33-yarder. Favre was intercepted by Rod Hood with 1:26 remaining, but a roughing penalty on rookie Trent Cole kept the drive going. Hood then picked off Favre in the end zone. - Includes commercials and halftime (Quality 9.5)

2006

(10-02-06) Wk 4 - Green Bay Packers @ Philadelphia Eagles - Donovan McNabb juked and jived the way he did early in his career. Brett Favre had a throwback night, too to his days of erratic interceptions. McNabb ran for two touchdowns and threw for a pair, leading the Eagles over the Packers on Monday night. Meanwhile, Favre, who has enjoyed many memorable moments on the national stage throughout his 16-year career, would like to forget this one. Favre misfired badly on several passes, including two interceptions that led to scores. He left with a slight head injury late in the fourth quarter, but Packers coach Mike McCarthy said he didn't think the injury was serious. McNabb finished 16-of-30 for 288 yards and had 47 yards rushing. He scored on runs of 6 and 15 yards, and connected with Greg Lewis on TD passes of 45 and 30 yards.

Bush amassed 95 all-purpose yards and a score. Brees completed 20 of 32 passes for 241 yards and a touchdown. Westbrook rushed for 116 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries. Stallworth caught 3 passes for 100 yards and a touchdown

2010 Season

(09-12-10) Wk 1 - Green Bay Packers @ Philadelphia Eagles - Aaron Rodgers threw for 188 yards and a pair of TDs as Green Bay held on in an injury-plagued season-opener. Rodgers connected with Greg Jennings and Donald Driver for scores and was also intercepted twice on 19-of-31 throws. Jennings led all receivers with 82 yards on five receptions, while Driver hauled in his 50th career touchdown amid a five-catch, 30-yard day. Ryan Grant limped off in the first half with an ankle injury and did not return. Brandon Jackson filled in admirably and ran for 63 yards on 18 carries as Green Bay won its fourth straight season opener. It was the Packers' first win in Philadelphia since 1962, having lost nine consecutive trips to the City of Brotherly Love. Kevin Kolb's long-awaited tenure as the Eagles' starting quarterback was met with disaster. The fourth-year pro was making his third career start and first since the team shipped long-time signal-caller Donovan McNabb to the Redskins in the offseason. Kolb was flat in completing 5-of-10 passes for 24 yards before being knocked out of the game with a concussion. He was chased down from behind by the Packers' Clay Matthews on a third-down scramble and landed hard on the ground under the weight of the tackle. His head and left knee were driven into the turf simultaneously as he fumbled the ball out of bounds. Kolb came back out for the next series before being replaced by Michael Vick to start the second half. Vick was crisp in hitting on 16-of-24 throws for 175 yards and a touchdown in leading Philadelphia back from a 17-point deficit in the fourth. He ran for another 103 yards on 11 attempts but the Eagles (0-1) fell just short in the end. The Green Bay offense clicked to rattle off most of its points in a 20-minute span over the middle two quarters after the sides traded field goals in a sluggish start. Kolb's injury was just the beginning for what could be a potentially devastating opening game for the Eagles. LB Stewart Bradley was also lost to a concussion in a nasty collision with a teammate in the second quarter. RB Leonard Weaver had to be helped off the field with what was being called a left knee sprain, but may be a torn ACL according to coach Andy Reid, who did confirm that center Jamaal Jackson has a torn biceps muscle. The Eagles celebrated the 50th anniversary of their 1960 NFL Championship victory over the Packers in a pre-game ceremony. It proved to be the great Vince Lombardi's only career playoff loss

(11-15-10) Wk 10 - Philadelphia Eagles @ Washington Redskins

(12-19-10) Wk 15 - Philadelphia Eagles @ New York Giants - Jackson's punt return - Two teams came in tied for the division lead and winner would have the inside track to winning the division with only two games remaining.  The Giants dominate the game the first half taking a commanding lead half way into the 4th Qtr.  Then with 8 minutes to go implode and Vick and the Eagles wake up and get one big play after another to tie the game with a little over a minute to go.  Then with 14 secs to go the Giants punter is instructed to kick the ball out of bounce and instead kicks a line drive straight to Deshaun Jackson who muffs the catch.  Jackson has enough time to recover the ball and shoots straight through the heart of the Giants return team like an arrow scoring the winning TD with no time remaining.  An unbelievable comeback. - (Quality 9)

(12-28-10) Wk 16 - Minnesota Vikings @ Philadelphia Eagles - Joe Webb's first start - Two teams heading in different directions.  Eagles came off unbelievable win in New York the week before to give them control of their division and a win giving them a great chance at the number #1 or #2 seed in the playoffs.  The Vikings season falling apart more every week it seems and Joe Webb is forced to start at QB with Favre out with a shoulder injury .  The QB change seems to inspire the Vikings though who play probably their best game of the season and upset the Eagles as Joe Webb plays a very good game. - (Quality 9)
