(10-20-46) Wk 9 - Pittsburgh Steelers @ Green Bay Packers - The Packers punched out two touchdowns in the final period to continue its streak of never having lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Green Bay went into the final period trailing because Pittsburgh's Bill Dudley had scored in the second quarter on a brilliant 31-yard dash through the Green Bay line, while the Packers could only manage a 38-yard field goal by Ted Fritsch a few minutes earlier. (10-30-60) Green Bay Packers @ Pittsburgh Steelers - Bart Starr came off the bench in the second half and quarterbacked the Packers to a 19-13 victory. The winning touchdown, a one yard plunge by Jim Taylor, was scored with only 63 seconds left to play. It overshadowed a great comeback engineered by another guy who came off the bench, Bobby Layne of the Steelers. Through the first half, it appeared as if Green Bay was on its way to a romp, even though there wasn't a touchdown scored. Paul Hornung, the NFL's leading scorer, padded his point column with four field goals from 45, 35, 35 and 17 yards away, to give the Packers a 12-0 lead. Then, in the second quarter, Layne stepped onto the field and the Steelers came to life. Running sometimes without the benefit of a huddle, Layne quick-passed the Steelers to a touchdown. The payoff pitch was for 37 yards to Tom Tracy. Layne's extra point kick sliced Green Bay's edge to 12-7 at the half. His second scoring pass was for 48 yards to Buddy Dial just after the fourth quarter began. This time Layne's tosses accounted for 65 of the 80 yards the Steelers gained. Two second half field goal tries by Hornung, from 51 and 40 yards out were wide. After Lamar McHan completed just four of his 16 pass attempts, he was replaced by Bart Starr, who directed the game-winning drive. Starr started slowly, but he had a full head of steam up by the time Henry Jordan recovered Tracy's fumble on the Green Bay 34 with just about five minutes to play. 5,000 fans greeted the Packers at the airport when they returned home. - "The Big Play" - Narrated highlights from game. (11-26-72) WK 11 - Minnesota Vikings @ Pittsburgh Steelers - A Frenchy Fuqua fumble at the Steeler 20 sets the Vikings up with great field position, but Minnesota can't move the ball and settles for a FG. The Vikings drive to the Steeler 7 on the next series, but on 4th and a foot, the fledgling Steel Curtain stops RB Bill Brown cold for no gain. A Minnesota fumble deep in their own territory sets up a perfectly blocked sweep right for a 12-yard Franco Harris score and a 7-3 Pittsburgh lead. Then start the special teams foibles for Minnesota. Not once but twice, the Vikings line up to kick virtually automatic FGs (12 and 14 yards) and holder Paul Krause fumbles the snap. The two teams are locked in a 10-10 tie with about eight minutes remaining in the game when Franco (17 carries, 128 yds, 1 TD) takes a middle draw, cuts back to the right to avoid the rush and gallops around right end for 61 yards before being knocked out of hounds at the 1-yard line. A play later, Bradshaw dives over the goal line and a QB sneak for the winning TD. - Includes halftime and commercials (4 DVDs) (Quality 9)

(07-23-76) College All-stars vs Pittsburgh Steelers - Despite featuring stars such as Chuck Muncie, Mike Pruitt, Lee Roy Selmon, and Jackie Slater, the all-stars were hopelessly outmatched by the Pittsburgh Steelers, winners of Super Bowl X. The star quarterback for the College All-Stars was Steeler draft pick Mike Kruczek, out of Boston College. Late in the third quarter, with the Steelers leading 24–0, high winds prompted all-star coach Ara Parseghian to call time out. Fans began pouring out onto the field and sliding on the turf. With the rain getting harder, the officials ordered both teams to their locker rooms. All attempts to clear the field failed; the fans even tore down the goalposts. However, by this time the rain had become so heavy as to make the field unplayable even if order had been restored. Finally, at 11:01 pm NFL Commissioner Pete Rozelle and the Tribune announced that the game had been called. The news was greeted with jeers, and numerous brawls broke out on the flooded field before order was finally restored. Joe Washington of Oklahoma was selected MVP of this final College All-Star game
(09-12-76) Wk 1 - Pittsburgh Steelers @ Oakland Raiders - game that features Oakland Safety George Atkinson's infamous forearm to the head tackle of Pittsburgh WR Lynn Swann. Oakland would score 3 times in the last 3 minutes to win - added March, 2007 - Named one of the NFL's greatest finishes - includes some commercials - missing last minute of first half, also missing first 9 minutes of 3rd qtr, and missing last 1:09 of game - only version currently available (quality 8)
(09-19-76) Wk 2 - Cleveland Browns @ Pittsburgh Steelers - Lambert is ferocious, Ham is flawless and Franco (118 yds & 1 TD on 25 carries) is unstoppable late in the game. Bradshaw, possibly bothered by the absence of the injured Swann, struggles mightily early in the game and Cleveland leads 14-0 at the half, so it's up to the defense to pull it out. Enter Jack Lambert and Jack Ham. The game turns when Ham blocks a Cockroft punt early in the 3rd, giving Pittsburgh the ball in the red zone and setting up a Bradshaw-to-Stallworth TD pass. As for Lambert, it's easy to see why he was the 1976 NFL defensive player of the year. Aside from forcing 2 fumbles, Jack seems to be in on every tackle and his legs are pumping furiously before every snap. But Lambert's most remarkable play comes when Hall of Fame receiver Paul Warfield catches a pass over the middle and is streaking for a huge Cleveland gain. Incredibly, Lambert not only runs the speedy Warfield down from behind, but also rips the ball away and Ham recovers for Pittsburgh. Unbelievable stuff. Edited huddles, but very nice video quality. - partial game w/edited huddles - announcer Buck (quality 8.5)
(09-26-76) Wk 3 - New England Patriots @ Pittsburgh Steelers - GOTW highlights, original, 22 mins (Quality 8.5)
(10-04-76) Wk 4 - Pittsburgh Steelers @ Minnesota Vikings - MNF - Pittsburgh defense starts to show in this game why this years unit will be called the greatest defense ever, but it isn't enough to stop a 17-6 defeat at the hands of the Super Bowl bound Vikings! Minnesota Mr. Everything RB Chuck Forman (27-148-2) is unstoppable on this night! - Includes pregame, commercials and halftime (quality 8.5)
(10-17-76) WK 6 - Cincinnati Bengals @ Pittsburgh Steelers - Facing an early end to their season, the 1-4 Steelers thrash the division-leading 4-1 Bengals convincingly in a must-win game to start their historic run toward the playoffs. With Bradshaw sidelined due to the infamous "Turkey Joe Jones" pile driver in Cleveland the week before, rookie QB Mike Kruczek is under center and the Steelers are forced to rely on dominating defense and a relentless running game. It's a recipe for success. Kruczek completes only 5 of 12 for 58 yds and 1 INT, but Franco Harris sets an NFL single-game record with 41 carries (143 yds) and scores 2 TDs. Meanwhile, the defense forces 3 turnovers (including an INT and a forced fumble/recovery by Lambert), sacks Ken Anderson 5 times and holds Cinci's high-scoring offense to a pair of FGs. Footage includes some pregame and the coin toss but is missing most of the 1st quarter. Action starts late in the first quarter with the Bengals leading 3-0. The Steeler Curtain absolutely SMOTHERS Cinci for the entire 2nd half and has Ken Anderson running for his life. Features the famous late hit by Cinci LB Bo Harris on Kruczek where Lambert races down the bench to give Harris a shot back. - JIP end of 1st qtr - Added March, 2019
(10-31-76) WK 8 - San Diego Chargers @ Pittsburgh Steelers - partial broadcast 28 mins (Quality 8) - added October, 2022
(11-07-76) WK 9 - Pittsburgh Steelers @ Kansas City Chiefs - The Steelers win their 4th straight, chalk up their 3rd straight shutout and add to their string of 13 straight quarters without a point and 17 straight quarters without a TD. The Steel Curtain holds KC's #2-ranked offense to a paltry 34 yds rushing and forces 6 turnovers - 4 INTs and 2 fumbles. Game footage begins at the 2nd half kickoff with the Steelers leading 10-0. KC mounts a promising drive to the Steeler 8 to open the 2nd half, threatening to make it a 10-7 game, but Mike Wagner ends the drive with an interception in the end zone and the floodgates open on the Chiefs. Bradshaw immediately hits rookie WR Ernie Pough for a 50-yd bomb, and Franco bursts up the middle for a 25-yd TD on the next play to give Pittsburgh a 17-0 lead. From there, the Steel Curtain utterly crucifies Mike Livingston, who is running for his life on every play. A KC punt from their own end zone gives the Steelers the ball at the KC 40. On first down, Bradshaw hits Pough deep again for 35 yds to the KC 5 and 2 plays later, Franco runs it in for a 24-0 lead. Livingston throws another INT, this time to JT Thomas, setting up a 19-yd Bradshaw-to-Lewis TD pass. The 4th quarter opens with another Livingston INT (his 4th of the day), this time by league-leading Glen Edwards, and Pittsburgh adds another TD for a 38-0 lead. Franco (23 carries, 117 yds, 2 TDs) and Rocky (15 carries, 102 yds) both gain over 100 yds on the ground, and with Bradshaw and Franco resting for much of the 4th quarter, backup (to the backup, to the backup) Jack Deloplaine gains 64 yds on 6 carries and scores 2 TDs. - 2nd half - Added March, 2019
(11-14-76) WK 10 - Miami Dolphins @ Pittsburgh Steelers - 4th quarter only. Action starts early in the 4th quarter with Bob Griese and company in the shadow of their own goal post, trailing 7-3. Griese hits a pair of nicely thrown passes to quickly move the Dolphins to the Steelers 42. But Miami gets no closer as the Steeler Curtain quickly clamps down, punctuated by a vicious hit by JT Thomas that sounds like a gun going off, followed by a 3rd down sack by Dwight White and Ernie Holmes. Miami punts and Kruczek works the clock, alternating handoffs between Franco and Bleier (who each go over 100 yds rushing) before hitting Frank Lewis on crossing route on 3rd and long. Lewis makes the catch, emerges from traffic and races down the left sideline for a 64-yd gain before being pushed out of bounds (barely) at the 2. Two plays later, Reggie Harrison dives over the pile and into the end zone to give Pittsburgh an insurmountable 14-3 lead with lead with less than 2 minutes remaining. Video ends after Harrison's decisive TD. - partial broadcast (16 minutes)
(11-21-76) WK 11 - Houston Oilers @ Pittsburgh Steelers - Part of first half only. Impenetrable defense, embarrassing offense. Video includes pregame with Curt Gowdy and John Brody along with coin toss. With Bradshaw and Pastorini out, ineptitude at QB ensues. The Steelers look sharp on their first drive, marching 58 yds in 8 plays for a TD. Kruczek converts with nice pass on 3rd & 7, then Franco breaks it outside for 18. Bleier punches up the gut for 7, Franco carries twice to pick up a first down and Bleier finally knifes through the middle for a 10-yd TD. Things get ugly offensively from there. After the Steel Curtain forces a 3 & out, a Kruczek INT kills a promising drive. Again, the Steel Curtain forces a 3 & out. More Franco and Rocky as the Steelers reach the red zone but settle for a FG. After the ensuing kickoff, and an alert Jack Ham immediately makes a leaping INT and returns it to the Houston 6. But a sack pushes the Steelers back and Noll shows little confidence in Kruczek's arm, calling a running play on 3rd-and-21 only to see Roy Gerela miss a 36-yd FG. The Steel Curtain forces yet another 3 & out and this time, Loren Toews blocks the punt for a safety and a 12-0 lead. But Jim Clack fumbles the free kick and the Oilers recover. Houston immediately fumbles on a pitch out and Lambert recovers for Pittsburgh at the Houston 38. But the offense goes backwards again and the drive ends with a punt. This is where the footage ends in the 2nd quarter. - partial broadcast (46 minutes) - Added November, 2018
(11-28-76) WK 12 - Pittsburgh Steelers @ Cincinnati Bengals - A HUGE "must win" game for the Steelers, this time in blizzard conditions against the division-leading Bengals. A Cincinnati victory would win the division for the Bengals and eliminate the Steelers from the playoffs. But Pittsburgh rallies yet again behind rookie QB Mike Kruczek (subbing for an injured Bradshaw) as Franco and Rocky combine for 184 yds on 42 carries and Lynn Swann hauls in 5 passes for 95 yds. Cinci leads courtesy of an early Chris Bahr FG and multiple Pittsburgh mistakes until late in the 3rd quarter when, following a Pittsburgh punt, Dwight White rips the ball away from Boobie Clark and emerges from the pile with the ball at the Bengal 25. From there, Kruczek hits Swann for 14, Bleier gets outside for 7 and then Franco Harris plows his way into the end zone from the 4 to give Pittsburgh the lead. The Steelers have a chance to seal the game midway through the 4th quarter, but on 4th & goal from the 1, Kruczek loses his footing and is stuffed on a QB sneak. The Bengals have one last shot late, driving deep into Steelers territory during the final minute of the game, but Anderson throws 4 straight incompletions to end the threat. Footage ends with Cinci facing a 3rd & 10 from the Steeler 23. - Added November, 2018
(12-11-76) WK 14 - Pittsburgh Steelers @ Houston Oilers - Pittsburgh wins their 9th straight to earn a playoff spot. During this stretch, the defense does not allow a touchdown in 22 consecutive quarters nor in 8 of the last 9 games, shutting out 5 of its last 8 opponents. Footage includes pregame detailing the long road back from a 1-4 start to playoff contender, a short portion of first quarter, then skips to 2nd quarter with the game tied 0-0. The teams trade punts until Mel Blount makes a huge INT late in first half at the Steeler 40 (forced by pressure from Joe Greene) and returns it all the way to the Houston 13. After a pair of penalties, Swann runs a perfect down-and-in pattern, leaps in front of a trio of flatfooted Oiler defenders to make the catch, sidestepping them as he glides into the end zone to complete a 21-yd TD pass. Missing some action after that and the game resumes in the 3rd quarter with Bradshaw gaining 15 yds on a QB sweep to the Oiler 10. On the next play, Franco runs right, is cut off, reverses field and runs left, picks up a great block from Bradshaw and takes it in for the 11-yd score to extend Pittsburgh's lead to 14-0. By the time it's over, the Steelers rush 53 times for 258 yds: Franco carries 23 times for 104 yds and a TD, Rocky carries 22 times for 107 yds (eclipsing the 1000-yd mark) and Bradshaw runs 4 times for 35 yds with a rushing TD. Missing significant chunks of action in the second half. Footage ends after Bradshaw puts the Steelers up 21-0 on a QB sneak. - edited huddles and plays (46 minutes) - Added March, 2019
(12/18/76-12/19/76) 1976 Divisional Playoffs - Washington Redskins @ Minnesota Vikings, LA Rams @ Dallas Cowboys, New England Patriots @ Oakland Raiders, Baltimore Colts @ Pittsburgh Steelers - "This Week in the Pro Football" highlights WK 15 - Summerall/Brookshier, 45 mins, color, original (Quality 9)
(12-18-76) 1976 AFC Divisional - Pittsburgh Steelers @ Baltimore Colts - the 11-3 Colts with their #1-rated offensive scoring machine led by League MVP Bert Jones manage just 99 yds net passing and 71 yds rushing while the full-throttle Steelers pile up 526 yards (301 passing and 225 rushing) and lay 40 points on Baltimore. And it could have been worse because the Steelers leave a TD on the field after a Reggie Harrison fumble at the Colts' 2 and are deep in Baltimore territory again as time expires. Bradshaw, finally healthy after missing 6 games with neck and wrist injuries, is utterly flawless, hitting 14 of 18 for 264 yds and 3 TDs including a 76-yd TD bomb to Frank Lewis on the game's 3rd play. The O-line manhandles Baltimore and clears the way for Franco to run wild for 132 yds (122 in the first 30 minutes) with 3 catches for another 24 yds before being injured. Swann is fantastic, snagging 5 passes (several in heavy traffic) for 77 yds and 2 TDs. And that defense... sweet mother Mary. They are absolutely suffocating. Baltimore has one fluke drive early, capped by a truly beautiful Jones-to-Carr TD pass, but they don't sniff the end zone again until garbage time. You have to keep in mind, this was the #1 offense in football and the Steel Curtain just shakes them like a rag doll. There's a great statistical comparison at the start of the game between the Baltimore offense and Pittsburgh defense: Points (Colts scored 417, Steelers allowed 138), TDs (51 scored by the Colts, 13 allowed by Pittsburgh), yards, etc. The Colts were a very talented team... and the Steelers just swallow them whole. Unfortunately, the Steelers are ravaged by key injuries in this game. Franco, Rocky and Frenchy all go down, leaving Reggie Harrison (primarily a special teamer and short yardage back) as the only healthy running back on a team that had been the NFL's #1 rushing attack. 1977
(09-19-77) WK 1 - San Francisco 49ers @ Pittsburgh Steelers - MNF - Footage ends midway through 3rd quarter. Franco and a totally dominant Steeler defense combine to crush San Francisco as Harris alone outgains the entire 49er offense. The Steel Curtain yields only 101 total yds of offense (82 rushing, 19 passing) while Franco, who scores a pair of TDs, rushes for 100 yds and adds 9 more yds receiving. Jim Plunkett is utterly obliterated, completing only 3 of 13 passes for 30 yds, all of which are erased by Steeler sacks for minus 30 yds. Franco, who repeatedly gains big chunks of yardage on outside pitches from Bradshaw, gives Pittsburgh all the points they need in the 2nd quarter when he breaks a pair of arm tackles and powers 14 yds for a score. Roy Gerela adds a pair of the longest kicks I've ever seen him make; a 50-yarder that gives the Steelers a 10-0 halftime lead and a 47-yarder that makes it 13-0 in the 3rd. Footage ends midway through 3rd quarter after the Niners' only scoring opportunity ends in botched snap on a FG attempt. Lots of MNF pregame with Howard Cosell, Don Meridith and Al Michaels, but missing numerous 3-and-out possessions by the Niners. - partial game footage - missing 4th Qtr - Added August, 2021
(10-02-77) Wk 3 - Pittsburgh Steelers @ Cleveland Browns - A real grind-it-out game from start to finish featuring HARD running by Franco and Rocky. Swann also shines, snagging 7 catches (including 2 of Bradshaw's 3 TD tosses) and displays remarkable speed on a great 30-yd punt return to set up Pittsburgh's opening score (Swannie's first TD catch of the day). The punt return is also notable because footage of Swann on special teams is fairly rare. A tipped Bradshaw pass results in an INT that puts Cleveland ahead 14-7 in the 2nd quarter. But on the ensuing drive, another tipped Bradshaw pass, this one on a bomb to Frank Lewis, bounces off rookie CB Oliver Davis before Lewis reels it in and trots into the end zone to tie the game on a 65-yd TD. Early in the 3rd, a muffed punt by Cleveland in their own red zone leads to Lynn Swann TD catch and the Steelers never look back. This game is also quite interesting because along with great play from names like Ham & Blount come outstanding performances from lesser known players like Loren Toews, Jim Allen, and Reggie Harrison. Perhaps most striking is how HARD Pittsburgh's reserves (who see considerable action late in the contest) play when they're given the opportunity. Some edited huddles, but very watchable.
(10-17-77) WK 5 - Cincinnati Bengals @ Pittsburgh Steelers - MNF - Partial recording. Footage includes pregame (Terry Bradshaw explaining why he will play only a week after breaking his left wrist) and 1st quarter into early 2nd quarter, including Rocky Bleier's first TD. Footage then cuts to the dramatic final minute of the game for Cinci's furious comeback attempt. Features at least 6 MASSIVE hits by Jack Lambert and excellent performances by Greenwood and Ham. - partial 36 mins from game (Quality 8.5) - Upgraded June, 2022
(11-13-77) Wk 9 - Cleveland Browns @ Pittsburgh Steelers - Snow - An all-out aerial assault amidst huge snowflakes. :) Anyone who doubts that Lynn Swann & John Stallworth belong in the Hall of Fame needs to watch this amazing game. The Browns score 1st on a Cockroft FG, but the Steelers explode for 28 unanswered points before the half. Swann & Stallworth are amazing, putting on a textbook display of how to make every kind of conceivable catch. Swann saves an 18-yarder by sliding on his knees at the sideline, and shortly thereafter hauls in a picture-perfect 39-yd TD bomb. Stallworth then breaks numerous tackles to turn a short pass into a 40-yd gain, followed by Swann's leaping 24-yd grab between two defenders at the 2 to set up a Bleier score. Stallworth then hauls in a beautiful 39-yd rainbow of a bomb for another TD, and Swann follows up with a diving, sliding, shoestring grab for a 25-yd gain to set up another score for a 28-3 halftime lead. The snow starts flying in the second half and a Franco fumble sets up a Browns TD, but Stallworth puts the nail in Cleveland's coffin a few plays later with a 10-yd TD grab. Bradshaw finishes 13 of 21 for 283 yds and 3 TDs with both Swann & Stallworth going over 100 yds, and Franco still manages to ramble for 99 yards and a TD amidst the aerial fireworks. Trailing 35-10, the Browns fight gallantly behind reserve QB Dave Mays (Sipe is knocked out of the game with a season-ending shoulder injury), narrowing the final score to 35-31, but the outcome is never really in question. - edited huddles - (quality 8.5)

(11-20-77) Wk 10 - Dallas Cowboys @ Pittsburgh Steelers - Great 70's rivals go at it again as Pittsburgh wins out over Dallas in hard hitting game. Besides being a GREAT hard hitting game, and Steeler RB Franco Harris (29-179-1) at his best and Cowboy Rookie RB Tony Dorsett's (17-73-1) good day, this game has periodic updates showing highlights of Walter Payton's record setting (275yds) rushing performance against the Vikings that same day. Tony Dorsett's first start. - (Quality 8.5)
(12-10-77) WK 13 - Pittsburgh Steelers @ Cincinnati Bengals - Second half only of game played on a frozen field in bitterly cold zero-degree weather (wind chill was 17 below zero). Video begins in the 3rd quarter with Steelers pinned in the shadow of their own goal post clinging to a 10-7 lead. Following a Steeler punt, Anderson hits Billy Brooks for a 57-yard bomb, but the Steelers stiffen and hold Cinci to a FG. On the ensuing kickoff, Jim Smith (filling in for an injured Lynn Swann) coughs up the ball and the Bengals recover. Ken Anderson immediately hits Pat McInally for a shocking 43-yard TD bomb, Cinci's second score in 15 seconds. Pittsburgh fights 'til the end but runs out of time and downs. - 3rd and 4th Quarters only (Quality 8)
(12-24-77) 1977 AFC Divisional - Pittsburgh Steelers @ Denver Broncos - Broncos linebacker Tom Jackson's 2 interceptions and a fumble return set up 17 Denver points as the Broncos defeated the Steelers. Denver scored first after John Schultz's blocked punt set up running back Rob Lytle's 7-yard rushing touchdown. Pittsburgh responded with quarterback Terry Bradshaw's 1-yard rushing touchdown. But in the second quarter, Jackson picked up a fumble by Steelers running back Franco Harris and returned it 35 yards to the Pittsburgh 10-yard line. On play later, running back Otis Armstrong ran the ball into the end zone to give the Broncos a 14-7 lead. Harris later tied the game before halftime with a 1-yard touchdown run. After the teams exchanged touchdowns in the second half, Denver kicker Jim Turner made a 44-yard field goal to give the Broncos a 24-21 lead. Then on the Steelers ensuing possession, Jackson intercepted a pass from Bradshaw to set up another Turner field goal. Jackson later recorded his second interception of the game, leading to wide receiver Jack Dolbin's 34-yard touchdown reception to put the game away. Harris finished the game with 92 rushing yards, 4 receptions for 20 yards, and a touchdown. (8+, JIP, missing 9 minute stretch between 3rd & 4th quarters. - JIP 7-0 in 1st QTR. (Quality 8)
1978
(08-05-78) Preseason - Pittsburgh Steelers @ Baltimore Colts - preseason - The game gets off to a scary start as Terry Bradshaw suffers a broken nose at the end of an ill-advised 16-yard scramble when, in spite of the fact it's a preseason game, Terry finishes the run by putting his head down and plowing into a pair of defenders. Gerela's kicking is horrendous, a portend of the shaky kicking season ahead. Blount picks off a Bert Jones pass early, so Jones tries his luck with rookie CB Ron Johnson. Johnson plays like a seasoned veteran, however, giving Jones nothing and showing flashes of the brilliant rookie season to come. Includes color commentary by LB Andy Russell and features a magnificent effort by rookie FA Ron Scott, who runs several defenders over on his way to a TD on a kickoff return.
(08-12-78) Preseason - Atlanta Falcons @ Pittsburgh Steelers - preseason - Pittsburgh's defensive strength is evident early when a blocked punt gives Atlanta a 1st-and-goal from the Steelers 3-yd line. After failing to gain an inch on 2 running plays, the Falcons' 3rd-down pass is picked off by Donnie Shell (the first of 5 Steelers INTs in the game). Atlanta's only points come on a 42-yd fumble recovery by Ernie Jackson. Lynn Swann gives Pittsburgh a 13-7 lead midway through the 4th quarter with a diving end zone catch for a 35-yd TD. Atlanta returns the ensuing kickoff 49 yds to the Pittsburgh 46, but Dirt Winston picks off QB Kim McQuilken, who throws two more INTs in Steeler territory in the waning minutes to Steeler rookies Nat Terry and Larry Anderson.
(08-26-78) Preseason - Pittsburgh Steelers @ Dallas Cowboys - preseason - If you want to see how football has changed in 40 years, watch as the two best teams in football GO AT IT for 60 minutes -- starters playing all the way -- in a supposedly "meaningless" preseason game. Amazingly, plays that are run successfully in this game are also run successfully in the Super Bowl. Case in point, Bradshaw runs the exact same flanker screen play that Swann breaks for a 29-yd gain just before the half in Super Bowl XIII against the Cowboys in this game, and Swann gashes them for 35 yds to set up Pittburgh's opening TD. The Steelers lead 13-3 before Dallas mounts a furious 4th quarter comeback with Staubach hitting Tony Hill for the game-winner with just 31 seconds left. Bradshaw comes back in for one last try to win it. The footage ends after Bradshaw hits Theo Bell for a 30-yarder to the Dallas 49 and we don't get to see what happens on his final pass as time expires. An amazing contrast between a REAL no-holds-barred football game featuring two determined championship teams vs. the meaningless scrimmage between no-name players on the bubble you would see today in a 4th preseason game.
(09-03-78) WK 1 - Pittsburgh Steelers @ Buffalo Bills - 2nd Half only - Due to Pope John being aired by all networks on opening weekend of the NFL in 1978, no NFL early games were broadcast in their entirety, so the game is joined as the 3rd quarter begins with Pittsburgh leading 14-0. The Steelers appear intent on steamrolling the Bills via the ground game as Franco, Rocky, & Sidney Thornton eat up yardage in large chunks. Pittsburgh extends their lead to 21-0 early in the 4th following a fantastic diving tackle on 4th and inches by Jack Lambert, who slices through and nails the RB in the backfield for a loss. Bradshaw is sharp, hitting 14 of 19 for 217 yds & 2 TDs, Franco racks up 96 yds and a TD, and Bennie Cunningham (3 catches for 70 yds) and John Stallworth (3 catches for 86 yds, 1 TD) both have terrific receiving days. Old man Bill Munson comes off the bench to replace a struggling Joe Ferguson at QB late in the game, leading the Bills to 17 garbage time points (including a TD pass to former Steeler Frank Lewis). But the outcome is never in question as the Steelers bulldoze their way to another score capped by Bradshaw's 15-yd TD pass to Theo Bell to punctuate a relatively easy opening-day win.

(11-02-80) WK 9 - Green Bay Packers @ Pittsburgh Steelers - A costly safety in the first quarter turned out to be the difference as the defending Super Bowl champions avoided falling below .500. Gerry Ellis scored twice in a losing cause. The victory that snapped the Steelers' three-game losing streak was neither big nor easy. But the come- from-behind 22-20 decision over the Green Bay Packers more than satisfied Chuck Noll, Pittsburgh's usually hard-to-please coach. "We lost three games in a row. After that, any kind of victory is impressive," Noll said. "We're headed in the right direction." It took two second-half field goals of 27 and 18 yards by Matt Bahr, a 4-yard touchdown pass from Terry Bradshaw to late-game substitute Rocky Bleier and some strong defense to snap the Steelers' longest losing streak since 1976. But Noll said he wasn't worried that the victory was so hard to come by. Bahr's 27-yard field goal four minutes into the third period pulled Pittsburgh to within 14-12 and his 18-yarder about six minutes later put the Steelers ahead, 15-14. With less than five minutes remaining in the game, Bradshaw hit Bleier with a 4-yard scoring pass to give the Steelers the lead, 22-14. Green Bay then drove 84 yards in 13 plays to pull within 22-20 with 34 seconds to go on a 14-yard TD pass from Lynn Dickey to Aundra Thompson. The extra point attempt was blocked, and Green Bay tried an onside kick but Pittsburgh's Dwayne Woodruff recovered. Green Bay had taken a 14-9 halftime lead on touchdown passes of 7 and 69 yards from Dickey to Gerry Ellis. The Pittsburgh defense had been largely responsible for the team's three prior defeats, but in the first half against Green Bay it was the Steelers' offense that sputtered. Green Bay piled up 216 total yards during the first half, while the Steelers managed just 89. The Packers' halftime lead might have been larger if the Pittsburgh defense had not intercepted three of Dickey's passes, including one snared by DB J.T. Thomas in the end zone to save a touchdown. Bradshaw, meanwhile, also turned the ball over three times in the first half - once on an interception and twice on fumbles. - Includes halftime upgraded (8.5)

Lions kick returner Robbie Martin has 81 yard punt return for TD. Lions defense intercepts 5 passes (including one which gets returned 70 yards) and holds Franco Harris to just 16 yards rushing. (12-10-83) WK 15 - Pittsburgh Steelers @ New York Jets - Bradshaw’s last game - Ten seasons before this game, a historic Jets moment—Weeb Ewbank’s retirement—was upstaged by another, more historic Hall-of-Famer moment: O. J. Simpson breaking the 2,000 yard barrier. Today the Jets play their final game at Shea; starting in 1984, they take up residency at Jimmy Hoffa Memorial Stadium. However, Steeler QB Terry Bradshaw, who until this game has not played at all in 1983, starts what will prove to be the final game of his Hall-of-Fame career. He goes 5 for 8 for 77 yards and 2 TD’s, and though he only lasts until the 2nd quarter, his presence is enough to spark Pittsburgh to a 34-7 thrashing of the Jets. The derisive Shea crowd that still remains when the gun sounds tears down both goalposts and takes home most of the Shea grass, only to discover that it can't be smoked. - includes half and post game (Quality 9.0)

(09-27-92) WK 4 - Pittsburgh Steelers @ Green Bay Packers - Brett Favre, making his first NFL start, twice threw touchdown passes after special team breakdowns by Pittsburgh as the Green Bay Packers beat the previously unbeaten Steelers, 17-3. The Packers shut out the Steelers after Gary Anderson hit an early first-quarter field goal to give Pittsburgh a 3-0 lead. Favre, who stepped in last week for the injured Don Majkowski, hit Sterling Sharpe with a 76-yard scoring pass in the second quarter to put the Packers up 10-3 at the half after Green Bay had blocked a 20-yard field goal attempt by Anderson. Then after Rod Woodson muffed a punt early in the fourth quarter, Favre flipped an 8-yarder to Robert Brooks with 12:52 left to make it 17-3. It was the first points the Steelers had given up in the second half this season. Woodson let the ball bounce and then tried to catch it, but he lost the ball when hit by Tim Hauck. Green Bay's George Koonce recovered in the end zone for an apparent touchdown, but the officials then ruled that Woodson had muffed the ball and gave the Packers the ball at the Steelers 8. Favre then pump faked and lofted the ball to Brooks in the right corner of the end zone on the next play. Favre completed 14 of 19 passes for 210 yards. Down two touchdowns, the Steelers then drove 50 yards to the Green Bay 26, but Neil O'Donnell threw four straight incompletions. Pittsburgh reached the Green Bay 12 in the final two minutes but still couldn't score. O'Donnell finished with 16 completions on 41 attempts for 224 yards. (Quality 9)

Buffalo quarterback Frank Reich threw for 160 yards, 2 touchdowns, and no interceptions; while running back Kenneth Davis rushed for 104 yards and a touchdown. Pittsburgh scored first on kicker Gary Anderson's 38-yard field goal. However, Steelers quarterback Neil O'Donnell lost a fumble which Bills defensive lineman Phil Hansen recovered. Buffalo then advanced 59 yards to score on Reich's 1-yard touchdown pass to Mitch Frerotte, an eligible lineman. - ( w/ NBC Live pregame show, commercials, half-time and Steelers 5th Quarter post game (Quality 8.5)

(12-24-95) WK 17 - Pittsburgh Steelers @ Green Bay Packers - "Yancy Thigpen's drop" - Excellent game that would help decide the division title for the Packers. Unbelievable ending. Favre would turn in a gutsy performance in leading Packers to their division-clinching, 24-19 victory over Pittsburgh when, despite having to stop twice during the game after getting the wind knocked out of him, he threw for 301 yards and two touchdowns. On one sequence, he was hit hard by three Steeler defenders while scrambling on a play; the Packers called a time-out and Favre, who would go over to the sidelines and cough up blood, returned to throw a 1-yard scoring pass to Mark Chmura on the following play. Favre would be Named NFC 'Offensive Player of the Month' for December, passing for over 1,233 yards on 102 completions in 151 attempts with 10 TDs and only two INTs (109.0 passer rating) in directing Green Bay to three victories during the month. - about a half hour of live local Milwaukee Post game coverage of the Packers winning they're first division in 23 years & the complete episode of NFL primetime for week 17 of 1995. (01-11-98) 1997 AFC Championship - Denver Broncos @ Pittsburgh Steelers - Revenge Tour Game #3" The Denver Broncos advanced to their fifth Super Bowl—and their first since 1989—with a 24-21 victory at Pittsburgh in the AFC Championship Game in front of 61,382 fans at Three Rivers Stadium. The Broncos became just the fifth Wild Card team to advance to the Super Bowl since the Wild Card format was established in 1970. Denver quarterback John Elway was intercepted by Levon Kirkland on the game’s second play, but the Steelers failed to capitalize when Norm Johnson’s 38-yard field goal attempt sailed wide to the left. Denver then got on the board when Davis—who would rush for 139 yards and become the club’s all-time postseason rushing leader—capped a six-play, 72-yard drive with an 8-yard scoring run on its second possession. Elway tied Roger Staubach for fourth place on the NFL’s all-time list for postseason touchdown passes (24) with his two on the day, and the Broncos’ three interceptions tied the franchise postseason record for most in a game. - (Quality 8.5)

(11-09-98) WK 10 - Green Bay Packers @ Pittsburgh Steelers - MNF - Playing on Monday Night and trailing the Steelers by a score of 24-0 at halftime, the Packers reeled off 20 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to pull to 27-20. It was the first time in nine years that Green Bay trailed by 24 after two quarters. Pittsburgh RB Jerome Bettis was able to effectively run the ball late in the fourth quarter to seal the victory for the Steelers. Packers DE Keith McKenzie started the rally with an 88-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown after Reggie White sacked backup QB Mike Tomczak and jarred the ball loose. On third-and-five with two minutes left and the game on the line, Pittsburgh running back Jerome Bettis, contained the entire game, rumbled 12 yards for a first down to run the clock out and seal the game for the Steelers. The Packers managed a meek 39 yards rushing. - Includes commercials and halftime (Quality 8.5)

(01-27-02) 2001 AFC Championship - New England Patriots @ Pittsburgh Steelers - The curtain call for Drew Beldsoe's Patriots tenure. Having lost his job and place in New England sports lore on a hard hit by the Jets' Mo Lewis, Drew Bledsoe was asked to help his team after Tom Brady's ankle was rolled up on during the second quarter. Drew would cap the Brady started drive by hitting David Patten in the corner of the end zone to give the Patriots a 14-3 halftime lead. He would drive the Patriots in the fourth to give them a game securing 24-17 lead on an Adam Vinatieri field goal and he would finish his Patriots career by coming off the bench and throwing for 102 yards and one touchdown.

The Steelers limited the Texans to just 47 yards of total offense, but Houston's defense came up big by scoring all three of the team's touchdowns - two interception returns by cornerback Aaron Glenn and a fumble return by cornerback Kenny Wright. (01-05-03) 2002 AFC Wildcard - Cleveland Browns @ Pittsburgh Steelers - "The comeback" - Great game as Pittsburgh, behind QB Tommy Maddox (30-48, 367yds, 3td) fell behind 24-7 in the third to a Cleveland team lead superbly by it's backup QB Kelly Holcomb (26-43, 429yds, 3td). But Steelers use huge 4th quarter rally to squeeze out 36-33 win at home when Browns desperate attempt to get into tying FG range runs out of time just as they do! - added October, 2007
(01-11-03) 2002 AFC Divisional - Pittsburgh Steelers @ Tennessee Titans - "Nedney’s Redemption" - The third time was the charm for Titans kicker Joe Nedney. After missing the potential game-winning field goal at the end of regulation time, and a second failed kick in overtime was negated because of a controversial roughing-the-kicker penalty on Pittsburgh's Dewayne Washington, Nedney won the game from 26 yards out 2:15 into overtime. Steelers coach Bill Cowher was incensed, saying he called a time-out before the winning kick took place. (3 dvd's) w/ commercials and half-time

(01-15-05) 2004 AFC Divisional - NY Jets vs Pittsburgh Steelers - Great game that goes into Overtime! Classic back & forth contest that sees Pittsburgh jump out 10-0, only to see heavy underdog New York come back to take stunning 17-10 lead late into final quarter. The Steelers rally to tie things at 17, and then get help from above when the Jets kicker misses two FG's in the final two minutes of regulation! Pittsburgh K Jeff Reed doesn't miss with four minutes left in OT for 20-17 win!
(01-23-05) 2004 AFC Championship - Pittsburgh Steelers vs New England Patriots - A great match up of super teams as 15-2 New England travels to 16-1 Pittsburgh. Defending champion Patriots use ever changing defensive sets to force three INT's out of rookie Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger that key 41-27 victory despite Pittsburgh’s gallant second half effort (Quality 9)

(09-25-05) WK 3 - New England Patriots @ Pittsburgh Steelers - (Quality 9)
(11-06-05) WK 9 - Pittsburgh Steelers @ Green Bay Packers - Troy Polamalu called himself an accidental hero. His 77-yard touchdown return of Brett Favre’s fumble set the stage for Pittsburgh’s 20-10 win over the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, when both teams turned to their stingy defenses to bail out their injury-ravaged offenses. Favre's streak of 27 straight home games with a touchdown pass came to an end. Green Bay held the Steelers without a single third-down conversion, allowed just two field goals and a 20-yard TD drive. Not bad, but not as good as Pittsburgh. The Steelers forced three turnovers that they turned into 17 points, including Polamalu’s score. The Steelers became the first team since the 1989-90 San Francisco 49ers and the fourth team overall to win 11 straight road games. And they did it without QB Ben Roethlisberger (knee) and RB Jerome Bettis (thigh), who were joined on the sideline in the second half by starting tailback Willie Parker, who turned his left ankle. Duce Staley, who replaced Bettis and had his first carries since the AFC championship in January, ran for 76 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries. The Packers fell to 1-7 at the halfway point for the first time since 1986 under Forrest Gregg. They’ve been in every game until the closing minutes and have actually outscored their opponents 168-159 — a first for an NFL team that lost seven of its first eight. - Includes halftime and Packers Blitz post-game (Quality 9)

(01-08-06) 2005 AFC Wildcard - Pittsburgh Steelers vs Cincinnati Bengals - Palmer goes down on his 2nd play with knee injury
(01-15-06) 2005 AFC Divisional - Pittsburgh Steelers vs Indianapolis Colts - Ten point underdog Pittsburgh goes to Indianapolis and pulls off a shocker in a Classic! What a game with an Amazing Finish! Steelers use harassing blitzing defense to stifle top seed Colts awesome offense, and key passing combined with great running to build 21-3 lead after three quarters. But suddenly QB Peyton Manning gets hot for the Colts and begins an impossible comeback after dramatically waving off the punting unit to go for it on fourth down from his own 40, and he gets them to within three points! But two crucial 4th & Inches conversions by Pittsburgh used up important time, a controversial Steeler interception was over turned, a big Pitt defensive stand when up only 21-18 with a minute left that gives them the ball at the Indianapolis two, and seemingly the game to Pittsburgh. But then Jerome Bettis fumbles, and the Colts return it out to midfield with QB Ben Roethlisberger making a game saving shoe string tackle, to me thus coining this game "The Immaculate Tackle"! Manning then quickly maneuvers it to the Pitt 28, just missing a game winning pass in the end zone, before the Colts kicker amazingly misses the tying FG. What more could a game give you for excitement???!!!???
(01-22-06) 2005 AFC Championship - Pittsburgh Steelers vs Denver Broncos - Pittsburgh, the #6 Seed, becomes the first team ever to knock off the #1, #2, and #3 Seeds in the Playoffs, and they do it all on the Road! Steelers use a so well designed that it was unstoppable passing attack, and turnovers from the return of "Mistake Jake" Plummer to take 34-17 win. (Quality 10)
(02-05-06) Super Bowl XL - Seattle Seahawks vs Pittsburgh Steelers - @ Detroit, MI - Pittsburgh completes' it's INCREDIBLE run to a Title as it uses three huge plays to beat a Seattle team 21-10. The Seahawks actually out play the Steelers, but have some key calls go the other way, and worst of all they shoot themselves in the foot over & over (Quality 10) (3 discs)

(12-06-09) WK 13 - Oakland Raiders @ Pittsburgh Steelers - Bruce Gradkowski's homecoming
(12-20-09) WK 15 - Pittsburgh Steelers @ Green Bay Packers - Mike Wallace's 19-yard touchdown catch on the final play of the game gave the Steelers a thrilling win at Heinz Field. Roethlisberger had the most passing yards of any quarterback since November of 2006, as he went 29-for-46 with a franchise-best 503 yards and three scores, while Wallace finished the game with two catches, both touchdowns, for the Steelers, who snapped a five-game losing streak. Roethlisberger set a Steelers franchise record with his performance, as his 503 yards surpassed Tommy Maddox's 473 yards in a game against Atlanta on November 10, 2002. In addition, Roethlisberger now has 3,849 passing yards on the season, vaulting him past Terry Bradshaw's 3,724 in 1979 for most in one season by a Steeler. Aaron Rodgers went 26-for-48 with 383 yards and three scores, and Greg Jennings had five catches for 118 yards and a score for the Packers, who had a five-game winning streak snapped. Starting with the ball at the Pittsburgh 14-yard line and 2:01 to play, the Steelers got a first down on its first play, as a defensive holding call moved the chains. Facing a 4th-and-7 later from the 22, Roethlisberger connected with Santonio Holmes for 32 yards to get the ball past midfield. After an offensive holding call, Roethlisberger was picked off, but Green Bay was called for illegal contact for another Pittsburgh first down. A pair of incompletions and a false start saw the Steelers facing a 3rd- and-15, but Roethlisberger hit Miller for 20 yards for a fresh set of downs. Another defensive holding call followed by a Miller 15-yard catch got the ball to the Green Bay 19. After consecutive incompletions there was three seconds left on the clock. Roethlisberger took the snap and fired it to the left side of the end zone, where Wallace made a diving catch and barely kept his feet in with no time left on the clock. - Includes halftime, Monday QB postgame, Pack Attack (Brandon Underwood guest) 3 DVDs - (Quality 9)
